We made it

We started in Mammoth where the Pacific Crest Trail meets the John Muir trail in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The very non-helpful people at the ranger station had us freaked of bears and the snow, but apparently they had not been anywhere they talked about, because it was warm (so much for packing in our winter gear) and beautiful!

We hiked past so many waterfalls and lakes where the water was so clear you could always see the bottom, as well as lots of big fish.

Chad started puking here, so I had to set up camp here the first night.

The famous Mount Banner-it seemed almost fake.

We found the best swimming hole outside Yosemite with a natural waterslide (That is Chad going off).
We also went to:

Rainbow Falls,

and Devils Postpile. Silly me-I thought this only existed on Morlin's farm. Ha ha. Pretty cool though, all of the rocks are shaped into really long perfect hexagons.

On Monday we went into the park to hike Half Dome. We started hiking at 4: 30 a.m. which turned out to be brilliant because the five hour hike up to the cables was cool and we were by ourselves-except for some wildlife, including a bear who was coming down the trail. He stopped, saw my big muscles, and decided it wasn't worth it for the fruit snacks in my bag. I also found (you will have to ask how) a deer with her newborn twins.

This is me trying not to chicken out! The cables looked so scary and the only people we saw coming down were those who had only made it a quarter of the way and couldn't do it.

We did it! Us on top of half dome with a 360 degree view of Yosemite Valley.

And we made it back down, (I had to go backwards some of the way because I couldn't look straight down) and just in time because the crowds were just beginning to show up.

Looks sweet, Why was Chad puking? Was it a scare tactic that you told him it would scare bears away. Or were you crying like a little girl and that made him puke?

ha ha he was puking because I made him carry all of the heavy stuff

Darn those heavy bear containers!

This looks like such a fun trip! I cannot wait to go back to the waterhole with you. It looks amazing. A lot better than our last waterhole.

So glad that the bear you met was nice, but I thought that you were hiding behind a tree! And Chad scared him away. Glad that you didn't bare all for the deer. You're so considerate.

Maybe you would do half dome some day again if we can talk a grandma/grandpa into watching our kids? What do you think?

So glad that you are home. We need someone to go swimming with!
